Explorers Sleep Out for Shelter
Explorers
in Eltham & Greenwich are planning to sleep-out in cardboard boxes to raise
money for the homelessness charity Shelter, through sponsorship and donations,
on the night of 29th March. The five units will all organise individual events
though with combined publicity.
Though
the issues involved are serious, the night will be fun for everyone. It begins
at 9.00pm on the Saturday with a BBQ until the early morning before bedding
down. There’ll be various locations around Eltham, from Scout Huts to church
doorways. All locations are prominent to be raise awareness of the issue.
We’ll
be starting things going the week before, with a competition for the best
designed cardboard house. We have had some with wallpaper inside and plastic
windows!
As
part of raising the awareness, we have invited a speaker from Shelter to talk to
us about the problems the homeless face and where the money we raise will go.
All the units are invited.
Your
support for this annual event is greatly appreciated. Sponsor
them online here.
